Orange Birthday Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

2 ½ tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 ¾ cups granulated sugar

4 large eggs

1 tbsp orange zest

1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice

½ cup whole milk

1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Frosting:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

4 cups powdered sugar

2 tbsp orange juice

1 tsp orange zest

1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch cake pans.

2. Mix dry ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.

3. Cream butter and sugar: In a separate bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

4. Add eggs: One at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in orange zest.

5. Combine liquids: In a small bowl, mix orange juice, milk, and vanilla extract.

6. Alternate additions: Gradually add the dry ingredients and the liquid mixture to the butter mixture, starting and ending with the dry ingredients.

7. Bake: Divide the batter between the pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Let cool.

8. Make frosting: Beat butter until creamy, then gradually add powdered sugar, orange juice, zest, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.

9. Assemble: Frost the cooled cake layers, decorate as desired, and enjoy!
